launch i love: fifty coffees

“focus on your life path, more so than your career path.” – dan johnson

“only good things come from gratitude, love and giving of self.”  – michelle welsch

“you don’t need to have everything figured out in order to be thriving, cheerful or in love.” – caroline zwick

i’m excited to share another launch i love post today! i recently discovered the awesome blog/website fifty coffees, authored by lindsay ratowsky. inspired by this article about the importance of coffee meetings, lindsay launched her site to document her conversations and lessons learned from people she called friends and looked up to. the three quotes above come from different ‘interviews’ she had with different individuals. my favorite part about each conversation she shares on fifty coffees is that she highlights her discoveries – what she learns from each person and what she takes away from the conversation. she shared with me a bit of background on fifty coffees and what she hopes to achieve – read more below!

also – fifty coffees was featured by daily life, australia’s #1 women’s magazine! the feature does an awesome job highlighting lindsay and her mission with the site. check out fifty coffees here and on lindsay’s twitter here!

Why I started the site – I was (am) in a transition period. I reached a ceiling at the job that brought me to NYC three years ago, and was ready to explore a new and different career direction. Prior to working at charity: water (an incredible NY-based non-profit organization bringing clean water to communities in developing countries), I worked in entertainment in LA. My work and life experience during my 20’s was weird and wild and my time at charity: water was a huge growth period for me. I was ready for a big career move, but I didn’t want to just jump into the next thing — I wanted to be as intentional as possible about my next work experience. I feel a lot of life momentum, and wanted to be thoughtful about my path. This feels like an important career moment. My network is strong, I live in the center of the Universe in New York City, I do not yet have a family or children to provide for, and I’m in a position where I can take a risk. I know that won’t always be the case. fifty coffees feels like me, preparing to leaning in.
What I hope to achieve – You know when kids are asked in 3rd grade what they want to be when he or she wants to be when they grow up? Well, my answer was never as clear cut as some as the aspiring firefighters and nurses in my class. There are a few important driving forces in my life that I hope to pull together in my future work: build community, think creatively, and make the world a better place. I don’t know exactly what the job looks like, so my aim is to talk to people I admire and respect to broaden my definition of what’s possible.

launch i love: speakable jewelry

good morning and happy monday queens!

i’m excited to continue my launch i love series by featuring speakable jewelry today! speakable was launched by my blogging-turned-real-life-friend gracie.

the brand is based on the reminder that words have POWER. words challenge, inspire, humor. they impact the way we think, feel and act. according to rudyard kipling, “words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.” and according to proverbs 16:24, “pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” i’m super inspired by gracie’s new passion project and think it’s awesome that she not only designed these dainty, brass necklaces {i’m all about simple jewelry these days!}, but that the words are inspired by words/phrases that resonate with her and others.

she recently sent me this awesome choose joy necklace that i’ve been wearing all the time! for me, this necklace is a reminder that no matter what is happening that day or what comes my way, i have the option and CHOICE, to choose joy. joy is not the same as happiness. to me, happiness is a feeling or state of mind in a given situation or on a given moment. joy is true, internal contentment that comes to life outside of external factors {like bad days!}.  i love how danielle leporte compares joy and happiness: “happiness is like rising bubbles – delightful and inevitably fleeting. joy is the oxygen – ever present.”

you can shop the full collection here – a few of my favorite ‘words to wear’ are peace, hope and dreamer. you can also follow along and learn more about speakable on twitter, facebook and instagram! xo

launch i love: orange harp

I recently had the privilege of sitting down with two smart and inspiring female entrepreneurs, Anbu Anbalagapandian and Kacie Gonzalez. These women founded Orange Harp, a mobile app that is a curated marketplace of handpicked, socially conscious brands. The brands are not only reducing their carbon footprint, but are shattering the misconception that conscious products are boring or unstylish. The app is beautiful and easy to use and is updated on a weekly basis with new partners and products. One of my favorite {dream!} items is this insanely beautiful, handmade labradorite druzy wing necklace {pictured above} from Love and Piece Jewelry. I also discovered the L.A.-based designer Jessica Faulkner and love her mindful products, especially the Sabrina tank!

The coolest thing {in my opinion} is that not only can you buy products right from the app, but you can learn about the different brands and their founders. Each business in Orange Harp is featured in a story, so you learn more about the individuals who created the product itself.

I’m constantly deleting apps from my phone, but Orange Harp is one that I think you won’t regret downloading and keeping on your phone. I know I’ve been checking it every few days to keep discovering socially good products and purchase {soon!}. If you want an account, email with subject POLISH MY CROWN and they will give you instant access to the app. XO!

launch i love: #aeriereal

A few weeks ago, I kicked off a new Launch I Love series, where I share a few of my favorite sites or campaigns that are just too good not to share. When I first saw aerie’s aerie REAL campaign, I was actually surprised – but in a very good way. aerie REAL is the brand’s Spring 2014 ad campaign featuring all unairbrushed models. In a release on Friday, aerie announced that the ads are “challenging supermodel standards by featuring unretouched models in their latest collection of bras, undies and apparel.”

I think this is a bold move for the brand, who’s primary customer is 15-21 years old and think it’s awesome they are taking a stand against the unrealistic portrayals of women in advertising. aerie has always focused on healthy and happy living, even with their advertisements, so I’m glad they took it one step further to ban edited and airbrushed photos of their models. I also like that they aren’t just celebrating hips and breasts and curves and instead, celebrating ALL types of women – whether hourglass or thin or tall or short. PS, how awesome does that girl in the pic below look?

I think what the whole #aerieREAL concept means to me if that I d0n’t need to measure myself against unrealistic expectations of the way I should look. The way my body looks now – with all of its imperfections – is perfect the way it is. Repeat it again, Andi. It’s hard to believe it, but I’ve been trying harder to remember how important to accept and love the actual body I’ve been given.

Also – check out their True Love Collection and Sweet and Sexy Collection. Can I please have everything? What do you think of the #aeriereal campaign?

launch i love: nellie magazine

I am so inspired by some of the awesome, exciting and empowering women in the blogging community. Not only do many of them have full time jobs and/or run their blog business full time, they are creating new products and sites. I am going to start a new mini series here on Polish My Crown sharing a few of my favorite launches, everything from new, cool websites to clothing lines started by people just like you and me. I am so in awe of the awesome work created by others and want to share with you their amazingness!

I’m excited to kick off the series by featuring nellie magazine as my first-ever launch I love! nellie was founded by the lovely Natalie from Thoughts by Natalie {read her inspiring women post on my blog here}. The magazine is a site that covers style and living, health and wellness, home and entertaining and family with the primarily goal of encouraging people to live fulfilling, inspiring lives. Ummm…right up my alley and I think up yours too! Their mission statement just screams everything I agree with and appreciate.

“nellie is a guide to shining brightly in the everyday. we believe that CONTENTMENT and IMPROVEMENT are not mutually exclusive; that COOKIES and KALE are equally part of a healthy diet; that SLEEP is just as important as a REGULAR EXERCISE habit; that STYLE is a form of SELF-EXPRESSION, not comparison or vanity; that BEAUTY IS WHO WE ARE, not what we look like; and that HOME IS WHEREVER OUR LOVED ONES ARE.”

All of the contributors are fantastic bloggers as well; so definitely give their sites a read as well. I can’t wait to dig into nellie more this weekend with a lazy cup of coffee in bed one morning! Check it out yourself at and also on Twitter and Facebook!
