Pelotonia

My good friend Morgan is interning for Pelotonia in Columbus this summer and the organization plans a HUGE bike ride tour in order to raise money for cancer. Pelotonia’s mission statement sums it all up very well: Pelotonia is a grassroots bike tour with one goal: to end cancer. Pelotonia raises money for innovative and life saving cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. Driven by the passion of its cyclists and volunteers, and their family and friends, Pelotonia’s annual cycling experience will be a place of hope, energy and determination. Pelotonia proudly directs 100% of every dollar raised to research. It is a community of people coming together to chase down cancer and defeat it.

There are four ride options for those riding in Pelotonia 2010-ranging from a 23 mile ride to a 180 mile, two-day ride.(from Columbus to Athens and back). It is mind-blowing to me all that this organization is doing to raise money for cancer research and the dedication and commitment of the riders! It’s not too late to donate to Pelotonia here.

This is the big weekend! Some amazing info about Pelotonia’s ride this year that begins TODAY: there are over 4,000 riders coming from 32 states (plus Canada!) Almost 25% of the riders are over the age of 50 and the youngest rider is 7 years old.

The opening ceremony video from 2009 (above) made me cry and just makes me so excited to hear how the 2010 Pelotonia event goes. I’m so proud of Morgan and the entire Pelotonia team for doing such amazing things—For more information, visit Pelotonia’s blog, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter pages and definitely consider donating to this amazing cause to end cancer. Have a great weekend queens!
